"Be TRANSPARENT so others can be TRANSFORMED"

The I Am Woman Experience was founded by Lakisha Herrera in 2010. Through poetry and monologues, women of all ages share their traumas and triumphs. It brings hope and healing to those who have been abused or traumatized. The I Am Woman Experience's mission is to encourage women to be transparent so others can be transformed. 

While navigating through her own healing process of childhood trauma, Lakisha thought about other women in her life suffering from similar experiences; she wanted to help them, and others, as well. It was during that time that she received a vision from God to create the stage production called I Am Woman. After receiving this vision, she wrote the script in one night. Afterward, she asked her believed friend and spiritual sister, Gloria Faith Murray, to write poetic monologues based on her vision. As a result, the production became a success. 

I Am Woman has become a source of healing and encouragement for many women. It has produced plays in Killeen and New Orleans since its humble beginnings. In 2017, under the advice of her husband, the name changed to The I Am Woman Experience.
